Botox in Alliston, Ontario, Administered by a Medical Doctor
Physician-level precision, natural-looking results. Dr. Fatima Mahdi, MD personally administers every Botox treatment at Faces Aesthetics Alliston. Typical treatment: 10-15 minutes, results visible at 14 days.
What is Botox?
Botox is the brand name for a purified form of Botulinum Toxin Type A, a neuromodulator that temporarily blocks the nerve signals causing targeted muscles to contract.
When a muscle can't fully contract, the skin over it can't crease in the same way. Over-active frown muscles stop pulling the brow into an "11." The muscle around the eye stops folding the skin into crow's feet. Lines caused by repeated movement, dynamic lines, soften or disappear.
Botox has been used cosmetically for over 30 years and is approved by Health Canada and the FDA. It does not freeze your face or change your bone structure. Administered conservatively and skillfully, the change is subtle: you look rested, not "done."
Every major cosmetic and therapeutic indication, by Dr. Mahdi personally.
The horizontal lines that appear when you raise your brows. Typical dose: 15-30 units.
The vertical frown lines between the eyebrows, often the single most aging feature of the upper face. Typical dose: 20-30 units.
The fine lines at the outer corners of the eyes, visible when you smile. Typical dose: 10-20 units total.
A strategic placement that relaxes the muscles pulling the outer brow down for a subtle, fresh lift. Typical dose: 4-6 units.
The creases that appear on the bridge of the nose when you scrunch. Typical dose: 4-8 units.
A small dose above the upper lip that slightly lowers the lip when smiling, reducing visible gum tissue. Typical dose: 4-6 units.
Relaxes the upper lip muscle so the lip rolls outward, a subtle enhancement without adding volume. Typical dose: 4-6 units.
Reduces jaw tension, softens a rounded jaw shape, and relieves teeth-grinding (bruxism). Typical dose: 30-50 units per side.
The vertical cords that become more prominent on the neck with age. Typical dose: 20-40 units.
A therapeutic application for excessive underarm sweating. Dramatically reduces sweat for 6-9 months. Typical dose: ~100 units.

Your appointment, step by step
1. Consultation (10 minutes). We discuss your goals, review your medical history, and Dr. Mahdi assesses your facial anatomy.
2. Cleansing & marking. Your skin is cleansed with antiseptic and Dr. Mahdi marks injection points based on your anatomy and expression.
3. Injection (5-10 minutes). Using very fine needles, Dr. Mahdi injects the planned units. Most patients describe the sensation as a brief pinch.
4. Post-treatment review. We review aftercare, you receive a written summary, and we confirm your follow-up.
Total chair time: about 30 minutes for new patients, 15 minutes for returns.
When you'll see results
- Day 0-2: No visible change. This is normal, Botox takes time to take effect.
- Day 3-5: You'll start to notice softening of lines with movement.
- Day 7-14: Results continue to develop.
- Day 14: Final result, and the right time for a two-week follow-up and any small touch-up.
- Month 3-4: Gradual return of movement, your cue to book maintenance.
First-visit patients: we intentionally dose conservatively on your first treatment and offer a complimentary two-week touch-up. Our philosophy is to build to the result you want, not overshoot it.
Individual results vary based on your anatomy, the dose used, and how your body responds. The timelines above are typical ranges, not guarantees.
For 24 hours after treatment
Do: keep the treated area clean, and use gentle facial expressions in the first hour to help distribute the product.
Avoid: lying flat for 4 hours; heavy exercise or sweating; saunas, hot yoga, or facials; alcohol for the rest of the day; and facial massage or aggressive skincare (retinol, acids) for 24 hours.
Mild redness and small bumps at injection sites are normal and usually resolve within 30 minutes. Minor bruising can occur in 5-10% of patients and resolves in 3-5 days. Call us immediately if you experience any unusual symptoms (severe headache, eyelid droop, vision changes, difficulty swallowing). Complications are rare, but we want to hear from you.
Am I a candidate?
Botox is appropriate for most healthy adults. We will not treat you if:
- You are pregnant or breastfeeding
- You have a neuromuscular condition (myasthenia gravis, Lambert-Eaton, ALS)
- You have an active skin infection in the treatment area
- You have a known allergy to Botulinum Toxin or albumin
- You are on antibiotics that interact with Botox (aminoglycosides)
We'll have a candid conversation during your call about any medications, medical history, or prior cosmetic treatments that might affect your outcome.
Why choose an MD for Botox?
In Ontario, nurses and even some non-medical staff can legally inject Botox under physician delegation. Many clinics operate this way. We don't. Dr. Mahdi personally injects every patient, so you're paying for physician-level anatomy knowledge, ethics, and accountability, at prices comparable to nurse-injector clinics. That's by design.
If a complication ever occurs, and they are rare, an MD's response is different. As an emergency physician, Dr. Mahdi is trained specifically to recognize and manage unexpected reactions.
Botox questions, answered by an MD
How long does Botox last?
Botox typically lasts 3 to 4 months for most patients. Duration depends on metabolism, dose, muscle strength, and the treatment area. Masseter Botox can last 6 months or longer. Frequent exercise and smoking can shorten duration.
How much does Botox cost in Alliston?
At Faces Aesthetics Alliston, Botox is priced per unit, so your total depends on the areas treated and the units required. There is no consultation fee - you receive an exact, personalized quote at your consultation.
Does Botox hurt?
Most patients describe Botox injections as a brief pinch. We use very fine needles, and the treatment takes only 10 to 15 minutes. Topical numbing is available on request.
When will I see Botox results?
Initial effects appear within 3 to 5 days. Full results are visible at 14 days. Patients often describe the onset as feeling that wrinkles gradually soften over the first two weeks.
Is there downtime after Botox?
No true downtime. You may have mild redness or small bumps at injection sites for about 30 minutes. You should avoid lying flat for 4 hours, avoid heavy exercise for 24 hours, and skip saunas and facial massage for 24 hours.
Can I get Botox while pregnant or breastfeeding?
No. Botox is not recommended during pregnancy or while breastfeeding. We will decline treatment in these cases. If you have any neurological conditions, active skin infection in the treatment area, or allergies to botulinum toxin, please disclose these on your call.
Who administers Botox at Faces Aesthetics Alliston?
All Botox treatments are administered personally by Dr. Fatima Mahdi, MD (CPSO #115421). Dr. Mahdi is an emergency physician and brings a physician's anatomical knowledge and safety-trained approach to every injection.
Will my Botox look natural?
Our philosophy is subtle, restorative results. We dose conservatively on a first appointment and have you return in two weeks for a complimentary touch-up if needed. The goal is softening, not freezing - people should notice you look refreshed, not different.
How often should I get Botox?
Most patients return every 3 to 4 months for maintenance. Treating before full return of movement extends results over time as muscles gradually weaken. Some patients find they can stretch to 5 months after a year or two of consistent treatment.
What's the difference between Botox and filler?
Botox relaxes muscles to soften dynamic wrinkles (lines caused by movement). Dermal filler adds volume to replace what's been lost or enhance contours. They solve different problems and are often combined. A consultation can help determine which you need.
